So What Is Micellar Water For?
Before we can address this, we should go through what exactly is Miscellar water. Micellar water is purified water, gentle hydrating ingedients and very mild surfactants. It’s these surfactants that allow water to mix with the oils used in your makeup, making it possible for you to gently remove your makeup before sleep. Never go to sleep with a face full of makeup. Its bad for your skin. Always clean your face before going to sleep. Using soap is also not recomendded. You will hurt your skin if you resort to rubbing facial wash multiple time to get all that makeup off.
How Does Micellar Water Work?
Micellar water contains Micelles which act like oil cleansing ball. Micelles act this way because it’s made up of two parts. A hydrophilic “head” and the hydrophobic “tail”. The head is attracted to water and will attach itself to water molecules. The tail part is repelled by water and mixes well with oil. Together it makes mixing water and oil possible and when applied to cotton, helps wipe up the oil based makeup you’ve applied on your face.
So Really, What Is Micellar Water For
Micellar water helps you get all the makeup off without being harsh on the skin and even helping hydrate it. Its used primarily to clear everyday makeup without being too harsh on your face by using a removal technique that does not require physical scrubbing and is still gentle on your face chemically. For those with very sensitive skin, you should still talk to your dermatologist to see if its safe for you to use.
However it won’t work for heavy foundations. Strong waterproof mascara and other similarly stubborn eye makeup are a challenge. Micellar water can only do so much. You’ll need specialized makeup remover for your way to go get a clean fresh face.
